The Leasehold Reform Act 1967 gives leaseholders of houses a right to acquire the freehold of their house or extend their lease. The Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993 allows leaseholders of flats either to collectively acquire their freehold or to extend their lease.
